OF GIANTS

Giants are a race who were produced when the “sons of God” (ANGELS see Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:4-7) “kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation …” (see Jude 6) and “came in unto the daughters of men” (human women) and “bare children to them” (Genesis 6).

The Hebrew word for giant is Nephilim, which means “the fallen ones”.

The Bible talks about three great risings of the Nephilim in the earth.

A.

The first rise is the pre-flood rise when the Watcher/angels descended upon Mt. Hermon, (Genesis 6, Jude 6, & the Historical Book of Enoch 6).

The Historical Book of Jubiliees tells us that the pre-flood races of the giants were known as;

*Naphidim(?),

*Nephilim(“giants” “feller”),

*Naphil(“the fallen” as “aborted”),

*Eljo(-possible meaning: “like gods”),

B.

The second rise is hinted at in Genesis 6:4 when it says, “and also after that”. And we can see clearly that they had infected the land of Canaan by the time the LORD led the children of Israel into the land.

When the twelve spies of the children of Israel went to spy out the land of Canaan, the Word of God tells us;

“And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” – Numbers 13:32-33

Though these spies could not see the “big picture” from God’s point of view, they were truthful in their account of what they saw.

Imagine a between 12′ and 36′ giant compared to a max. 6’6″ man.

[Note: Measurements by the royal Egyptian cubit = 24 inches. The average Israelite cubit is understood to be 18 inches in the days of the Kings. So measurements given in the days of Moses & Joshua are likely the former and afterward are questionable.]

Moses later told the children of Israel, “Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak! Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee. Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” -Deuteronomy 9:1-5

According to the Word of God the post-flood races of the giants were known as;

*Rephaim(“the fearful-dead ones” or “the healers”), in Ashteroth Karnaim, defeated by Chedorlaomer, (Genesis 14:5).

*Zuzim(“the roving-brute beasts”), in Ham, defeated by Chedorlaomer, (Genesis 14:5).

*Emim(“the terrors”), in Shaveh Kiriathaim, a warlike tribe of giants who were defeated by Chedorlaomer, (Genesis 14:5). “A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims” (Deuteronomy 2:10-11).

*Zamzummims(“devisers of evil” and/or “medium/mutterer/necromancer), “A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims”, the LORD destroyed them before the Ammonites and Moabites, (descendants of Lot); and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead, (Deuteronomy 2:20-21).

*Horim(“the cave-men”), in their mount Seir. A race of troglodytes who dwelt in the limestone caves which abounded in Edom. Their ancestor was “Seir,” who gave his name to the district where he lived. These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah, and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan, (Genesis 36:20-30). The LORD destroyed the Horims before Esau, (Deuteronomy 2:22).

*Avim(“the destroyers” and/or “serpents”), which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah. The Caphtorims destroyed them, (Deuteronomy 2:23).

*Anakim(the “long-necked” and/or “necklaced”). Anak was the son of a great man among the Anakims named Arba. Anak’s three sons were, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, (Numbers 13:22), Caleb drove the three sons of Anak from Hebron, (the “city of Arba”), (Joshua 15:13-14, 21:11, Judges 1:20).

The Word of God also tells us about Goliath of Gath [whose height was six cubits and a span, (12′ 9″)], and his four brothers, Lahmi, Ishbibenob, Saph, and a six fingered giant, (2 Samuel 21:15-22, 1 Chronicles 20:5-8).

The text shows that there has been a major change between Genesis 2:7, where man “became a living soul” by the power of God, and Genesis 6:3, where God says that man, “also is flesh”. God has been striving with man, but not for ever. As John 4:23-24 says,

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Communication with God requires the denial of self. In this we know the difference between the seed of the woman, (the children of God through the work of the LORD Jesus), and the seed of the serpent, (Satan). The former, (like Jesus, Matthew 26:42, Mark 14:36), are lead by the Holy Spirit of God, and the latter, (like Satan -Isaiah 14:13-14), are led by their fallen nature.

When the “Watcher” angels left their spiritual estate, (where they communed with God), and went after strange flesh, they fell. The result of their fall was the Nephilim/demons. These beings are, by nature, fleshly, fallen ones, incapable of salvation. By the days of the flood, the Nephilim had nearly “bred the spirit” out of mankind.

Note: that God gave mankind 120 years to repent before He brought the Flood. If we examine the genealogies, we will find that most of those in Noah’s ancestry, (with the exception of Adam, Seth, and Enoch[the seventh from Adam]), died within Noah’s lifetime, ending with the death of Methuselah, (who died the year of the Flood).

The Book of Jasher 4:20 tells us,”And all men who walked in the ways of the Lord, died in those days, before the Lord brought the evil upon man which he had declared, for this was from the Lord, that they should not see the evil which the Lord spoke of concerning the sons of men.” Peter makes reference to these men in 1 Peter 3:18-20, when he said, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.”

Jasher is telling us that God, in his mercy, made sure that the godly men died so that they would not face the horrors of the flood. And 1 Peter tells us that this was so that their salvation could be completed later when Jesus came to preach the gospel to them after his crucifixion.

Note that he says that 8 “souls” were saved. This is interesting because the Nephilim do not have a redeemable soul.

The first two rises of the Nephilim appear to be an attempt, led by Satan, to use the Nephilim, (the serpent’s seed), to corrupt the bloodline, of the “woman”, so that her seed, (Jesus), would never be born, (“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” -Genesis 3:15). Without the explanation of the Nephilim, how do we explain God’s order to the children of Israel to slaughter, not only the Canaanite men and women, but also the children? Why would God command the slaughter of infants, in 1 Samuel 15:3, unless there was something evil in them. I believe that these giants were so contaminated with Nephilim (fallen/junk) DNA, and therefore were incapable of spiritual reform.

That is not to say that there were not those, (like Noah who were “perfect” in their “generations”), who could be saved out of the midst of evil, like the harlot Rahab, (Hebrews 11:31). Rahab, by the way, married an Israelite, named Salmon, and bore him Boaz, and Ruth the Moabite, bore him Obed, who begat, Jesse, who begat David, (who slew Goliath), and are in the ancestry of Jesus, (Matthew 1:5).

Therefore we should preach the Gospel to every creature, (Mark 16:15-18), because only the LORD knows who is, and is not able to come to salvation.

C.

The third rising will probably be connected to Satan’s desire to corrupt mankind’s ability to be saved, using genetics to combine the Nephilim and humanity, so that when the Son of man comes he would not “find faith on the earth”, (Luke 18:7-8).

Whatever the case the giants are in the proses of returning to Israel right now, [research]. Jesus/God is raising up His Mighty Men right now, and He will allow Satan to gather his giants against His people before He returns, but He will protect His people, and when the time is right, He will return and lead all His saints and angels in destroying the fallen.

The prophet Joel gave a prophecy that I believe is connected to the return of the Nephilim, mentioned in Revelation 9. Read both passages and see the connections, (note that Revelation 9:17-19 describes the Chimeras from Greek Mythology);

“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. (If these things are anything like roaches, it probably won’t do much good to cut off their heads, roaches last for a week after their head has been cut off.) They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?” -Joel 2:1-11

“And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter. And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” -Revelation 9

It is important to note that the Nephilim are not allowed to harm those who have “the seal of God in their foreheads”, (Revelation 9:4). The Nephilim should not make true believers afraid, for we have one mightier than they do who stands with us. The Word of God tells us, “The angel of the LORD (Jesus) encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” -Psalm 34:7

“And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” -2 Kings 6:15-17

Therefore we are told, “Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, (thought by some scholars to reference the Anti-Christ in Micah 5:5), nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. …” -2 Chronicles 32:7-8

“I have commanded my sanctified ones, (Saints/Christians) I have also called my mighty ones (Angels) for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people (“giants” Nephilim); a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.” -Isaiah 13:3-5

“…the LORD thy God is he which goeth … before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face…” -Deuteronomy 9:3

Remember the courage of Joshua and Caleb when they declared,”…their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.” -Numbers 14:9, and of David when he withstood Goliath saying, “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; … And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.” -1 Samuel 17:45-47

Revelation 12 tells us of a future battle when Michael the archangel will cast Satan out of Heaven, “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” -Revelation 12:10-11. This correlates to Daniel 12:3 which declares, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Let us then be bold and wise and as Joshua said, “…Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

The LORD has also given His children powerful weapons with which we can withstand the evil ones. First, He has given us His Holy Word, and second He has given us the authority to use His mighty Name; “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” -Mark 16:17-18

“… at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” -Philippians 2:5-11

In Psalm 91:13 the LORD said, “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.” And in Luke 10:17-20 Jesus gave His followers the “power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Note the connection to the creatures with the teeth of lions and scorpion tails, and the lion-like creatures which have serpents for tails, in Revelation 9.

The LORD Jesus Christ also told us in Luke 21:28, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
